Landscaping by Nathan Burkett

The landscaping of this courtyard in Ottawa, Canada at first glance seems very simple, but it is worth taking a closer look at the details to understand that a lot of energy and imagination has been put into the elegant symmetry of this garden. Garden alleys and relaxation areas form perfect symmetry. In the center, on a raised podium, there is garden furniture and a fireplace, while the area with sofas forms an island surrounded by a narrow pond with fountains (the walls and bottom of which are decorated with Italian glass). On the sides of the relaxation area are two green islands with a lawn and young plane trees. The wooden frame, which consists of canopies above the alleys and small fences framing the flower beds, gives the garden special geometry. According to the project designer Nathan Burkett, this frame creates an architectural “frame” in which the garden fits. A wonderful project that embodies the purity of lines, the organic nature and a special aesthetics.
