Today we continue our story how we created the design of a private house in Kyiv (the complete house tour can be found here).
The original layout was almost perfect and the client was happy with it, so we did not change anything (except the laundry). The house has a clear division into public and private areas – through glass doors in the kitchen you get into the long L-shaped hallway leading to the bedrooms. The idea was to make the kind of art gallery in this corridor, with a natural oak parquet, white walls and large photos in frames as “exhibits”.
At the very end of the corridor, there is a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. This is the second room in the house, which has access to the inner courtyard. The bedroom is designed in the spirit of the whole house – only natural materials and a calm light color scheme of natural warm shades.
The bed is by Hommie, the chair at the window by Interia, the nightstands and TV console was designed by us and made by local craftsmen.
In the master bathroom, two large Restoration Hardware mirrors capture all the attention. The cabinet is also made by our design.
Just outside the bedroom door, the wardrobe is hidden behind massive curtains. The curtains are controlled remotely by the panel on the wall. The shelving in the wardrobe is designed by us. It is based on an iron frame with mounted shelves and boxes.
The only room that was replanned is the laundry. Initially, there were 2 separated tiny rooms with miniature windows. We first wanted to move the wall between these two rooms a bit, so that a full bathtub could be placed in. But after the wall was dismantled, a beautiful space appeared, which we decided to leave, dividing zones by glass partitions and leaving half of the space for the laundry and the second for a full bathroom. The highlight was a large cabinet with sliding barn doors, behind which there are washing and drying machines, as well as some engineering systems.
В доме также есть гостевая спальня в темных тонах и детская.
A few words about the doors, which can also be called cool feature of the home. All interior doors here are made of solid ash, which is perfectly complemented by black matte hardware. It should be noted that the wood for the doors was selected very carefully – we wanted to maximize the beauty of the tree and to use natural knots and cracking.
This is us.:)
