Tropics and minimalism: Palm Hotel in Sri Lanka

Some hotels are objects of architectural art and centers of attention, but there are those that simply fit into the environment to emphasize the beauty of nature. Hotel Palm in Sri Lanka is just one of them. The main hotel building is built of glass and metal, which contrasts with the white colonial villas, popular in these places. Guests live in lovely A-shaped houses surrounded by banana and coconut trees. Inside we can see minimalist design with rattan and concrete furniture. The typical room has only a bed, a wardrobe, a washbasin, a pair of armchairs, and open-air rain shower. The pool has a cafe and lounge area with swings, and instead of sun loungers on the grass there are bedding and umbrellas. At the same time, there is no abundance of tiles or artificial stone, the owners of the hotel have kept the lawn and palm forest as much as possible – and this perfectly immerses you in the relaxed atmosphere of the tropics!
