The restoration of this 19th-century carriage house is amazing. The home is located in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina, and was part of a major renovation project for historic buildings. The building has been restored with great respect for original details and architecture and converted into a luxurious residential building. A team of designers and craftsmen restored the original pine floors and doors, and also manufactured new doors with wrought iron hinges and fittings. The kitchen, bathroom, stairs and much more are completely new, but they look like solid things with history. The color scheme is captivating: warm shades of yellow, ocher, brown and green have become an excellent bridge between historical and modern interiors. The house is adjoined by a well-kept courtyard, where it is so nice to have a cup of coffee or have dinner with guests.
