Walls of volcanic rock and antic vases: mini-hotel Ai Maestri in Italy

The Ai Maestri Rooms & Cafe in Matera in southern Italy is truly unique. Its walls are made of volcanic rock and stone quarried in the area. The use of materials such as wood, steel, marble and glass in the interiors emphasizes the balance between antiquity and modernity, all together this creates a comfortable and cozy environment. All furniture is custom-made by local craftsmen, and the decor items are thought out with great care and love. That only there are wonderful shell vessels or charming angels and other artifacts under glass lids. One of the main ideas in the design of this hotel is to tell about the natural wealth and uniqueness of these places and to present the work of artisans, to whom the entire city turns from generation to generation.
