Glass walls and classic fireplace: modern renovation of historic manor in Brussels

The first photo of this house can be easily misleading: glass walls, minimalist kitchen and trendy modern furniture seem to reassure that the house is brand new and was built just recently. But in other rooms, a classic fireplace, moldings on the walls, a mirror in a golden frame are already appearing – things that clearly indicate a connection between the building and the past. Indeed, this is a historic 100-year-old manor in Brussels that has simply undergone a modern renovation with an extension (hence the glass walls) and now looks very trendy and fresh. This is exactly the case when modernity took its toll, leaving the classics a very small piece of the pie. But isn’t it beautiful?!
