In the 18-19th centuries, Connecticut was the most developed industrial state in America, and a large number of factories and mills concentrated on its territory. But with the change in the global economy, since the middle of the 20th century, many entrepreneurs began to close their capacities and transfer production to countries with cheaper labor. One of such industrial complexes was recently converted into a residential village, consisting of 4 residences, a tavern, and a restaurant. Let’s have a look what one of these houses looks like!
It seems that for New York designer Patrick Mele there are no limits and stereotypes in design. The most daring colors and the most unexpected pieces of furniture fill the interiors created by this extravagant designer. A small apartment with black walls and bright paintings, a country house in all colors of rainbow, a purple living room with a red sofa – the portfolio of Patrick Mele is very diverse and will not leave anyone indifferent. The unpretentious facade of this cottage in the suburbs of New York does not promise anything unusual inside: modest classical forms and traditional finishing look rusticly cozy. But instead of granny’s interiors, inside you will find with some surprise rather refined modern atmosphere, usually common for city dwelling. Together with his wife they found a half-ruined old farm in Tennessee and decided to make it their home. The main building had to be almost completely demolished and built in fact new, but the designer Barbara Westbrook gave interiors the charm of the past. Now the couple’s two sons and their wives visit often, along with three little grandkids, to spend an unforgettable time in a cozy parents’ nest.
Picturesque park and a quiet courtyard outside the window – honestly speaking, not the most typical set for a resident of New York, a city that is sometimes called “stone jungle.” But the owners were fortunate enough to own the apartment right next to the famous Gramercy Park in one of the most prestigious areas of the city. The family spent a long time looking for a house in which they could put down roots now they are sure that they found it here. Magnificent home with a stunning design!
