Ancient walls and modern design: loft of young businessman in Barcelona

A young Spanish businessman from saw great potential in a semi-abandoned premise on the first floor of a historic building in a suburb of Barcelona and asked Rardo Architects to help with the reconstruction. The house is more than 150 years old and it is under state protection, so the new owner really wanted to emphasize this fact in the updated interiors. For this purpose, designers completely opened the original stone and brickwork in the rooms, with all the irregularities and roughness. At the same time, the filling of the interiors and the decor is quite modern and minimalistic – chic furniture, compact kitchen, metal elements and dark accents. Interestingly, the loft also serves as the office for the owner – here he often receives clients and works. Great industrial home!
