Renovation of this California house began in 2018. It was originally built in 1905 in the style of a Swiss chalet with a predominance of dark wood, stone and leather furniture. The owners wanted to preserve this atmosphere, but make the interiors more modern and personal at the same time. To balance the dark wood, the designer used splashes of peach, yellow, pink, blue, raspberry and pale green in the finish. Also during the project, the team studied historical photographs of Swiss chalets to make the interiors even more authentic. The owners’ love for music also added a twist: there is a lot of vinyl, books about music and posters with David Bowie in the house. Here, the Alpine style and the wonderful Californian climate are surprisingly combined: you can bask by the fireplace on a cozy veranda surrounded by orange trees and cacti!
