Mountain chalet Amande in French resort Megeve is a wonderful mix of traditional Alpine façade, modern design with an abundance of wood and retro accents in the form of photos and posters on the walls. The house has many windows and an open layout of the common areas, that means that throughout the day the rooms are filled with warm sunlight. This guest house in the Swiss Alps can be rented for a weekend – in 2015 it was renovated from an old wooden chalet. The interiors are quite unusual – the abundance of wood, typical for such houses, are mixed with elements of retro style, and even floral motifs that can be seen in wallpaper and decor. In total there are 8 bedrooms, 3 living rooms, and several terraces. An interesting feature – every room has a bright bathroom: pink, blue, white, and all of them are decorated in the style of 50’s and 60’s. But the best place, of course, is a veranda overlooking the mountains. Fascinating!
The story behind this home is not new, but still wonderful: in the picturesque Spanish countryside, there was a lovely but abandoned mountain cottage. But one day a big family have bought it and decided to put a soul into its reconstruction. The first step was to open the interiors to nature – one of the walls was made of glass just to take most of the views. Also, some partitions inside the house were demolished, because the old structure had a large number of small and cramped rooms. And in the end the house was filled with magnificent furniture and a decor of natural materials. So cozy and warm!

When the future owners first saw this home, the decision to purchase was made quickly, as it has 3 characteristics important or the family. The first is a convenient and picturesque location. A modern mountain chalet is located in a beautiful winter resort in Colorado, just between the center of a cozy town and the ski slope. The second factor is the expansive views from almost every window and the abundant use of natural materials in the decoration – exactly as they dreamed. And, finally, a design with a twist: a circular staircase struck a couple at a glance and was the final reason to buy this house. We have to say, it was an excellent choice!
A house in the mountains is a real dream, especially for those who live in the city all the time. At least, a small cozy cottage, just like this Spanish cabanita with a total area of only 90 square meters. Such houses are so tempting and attracting with their coziness and ability to unite with nature. Just look how cute it is, how harmoniously he blended into the surrounding woods. Despite the size, 9 people can comfortably settle here. It’s just wonderful!
