Creating architecture in the styles of past eras is usually a bad idea – a home always looks more harmonious and more honest if it is built in the spirit of the time in which we live. But this mansion in California, built a couple of years ago, really looks like a historic building from the beginning of the last century. The splendid colonial facade with shutters and a classical portico impresses with its perfect lines and shapes. Designer Lauren Nelson continues the line of sophistication in the interiors, mixing traditional motifs with understated modern ones for a pleasing timeless effect. Wonderful home!
